Ancient Italian Wine Windows Make Comeback

Ancient Italian Wine Windows Make Comeback

What in the world is a wine window?

Created during the plague hundreds of years ago, long since shuttered, wine windows are being repurposed during COVID-19 to serve up gelato, coffee, wine, and other household goods.

Amazing. Who would have thought?

Some historic traditions could likewise be revived in the nonprofit space, right?

As a means to memorably connect with others and ourselves:

1. Handwritten notes. Consider using a fun pen - quill or metal perhaps - and sealing the envelope with a wax or a sticker. I just ordered my stickers, BTW.

2. Welcome Wagon. When new neighbors move into your neighborhood, at home or at work, take the opportunity to drop off a welcome note with a small gift. [In my case, I gave a votive candle.]

3. Revive the barter. I needed a website. A digital design firm I knew needed help finding grant dollars for a project.

4. Revive the long business lunch. Let it go on for two hours or more. Imagine the creativity that could flow, the new partnerships that could be envisioned when you’re not in the usual rush.

5. Take a real vacation. Like the ones people used to take: no internet, no work phone. no emails. Unplug and recharge.
