Bebashi – Transition to Hope Reduces Food Insecurity

With the start of the new school year, Bebashi - Transition to Hope is continuing its work to eliminate food insecurity in Philadelphia.

On Friday, September 11, the nonprofit organization celebrated the restart of its food pantry based at Frances E. Willard Elementary School, one of three food pantries Bebashi operates within Philadelphia’s schools to serve students and their families.

More food banks at elementary schools are scheduled to open over the course of the next few months. The challenges of the pandemic are dramatically increasing the number of families in need, compounded with the closures of the places that normally serve as distribution points.

Additional support for programs that directly address food insecurity, homelessness, illness, and more are essential, especially right now.
