Gratitude

Gratitude

I recently opened my mailbox to find a thank you note from Executive Director Alison Paul of Montana Legal Services Association, a small but mighty provider of free legal services for low-income Montanans.

I don’t think she knows who I am, exactly – only that I’ve been a donor to her organization.  My hunch is that Alison Paul is writing these personal notes to  donors at all levels, including small donors like me.

I shared with a colleague that if I were asked to double my last gift to her organization, sometime in the next year, I would probably do it.

Leaders of very large organizations may not have the capacity to write to all donors.

But do they have volunteers or board members or interns who might pitch in to help with handwritten notes to supporters?

It's an old school and yet still effective way to generate goodwill and to steward donors for the long haul. Great job, MLSA!
