Reverse the Erosion of Planned Gifts' Value Over Time

The "ten year retention rate of a#charitable #estate component is approximately 55% among adults over age 50 (James & Baker, 2015)."

What? I was trained over two decades ago that 80 - 85% of #plannedgifts would remain intact over time. The data might have been flawed or #donor habits have changed since then.

One tool we implemented is a planned giving intention form (non-binding) and incorporated a practice of using the tool on an every two or three-year basis with the #donors.

The supporters appreciated that the #charity sincerely desires to know how to make good on their most current intentions for the organization to either spend or #invest their #contribution. 

Result? Many increased gift size while some lowered their commitment.
