Forging His Own Path - Chef Daniel Stern

Chef Dan's restaurant, R2L, on the 37th floor of Two Liberty tower in Philadelphia.

🏈 🏈 🏈 The younger brother of my best friend from grad school, I first saw Dan in action when he *majorly* corrected my food display at a Super Bowl Eve party back in 1997.

===> 🔪 I'll never forget how awestruck I was watching Dan as he drew inspiration from a sparse amount of ingredients he could muster from my spartan student-funded kitchen and seeing him transform my buffet into a restaurant-worthy masterpiece: he had all four burners going, the toaster, the oven, and put us all to work before the guests arrived.

🌟 Years later, he helped return the 5th Mobil Star to the storied Le Bec Fin Restaurant and opened a multiple set and series of successful restaurants to which I always discovered new flavors and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

*** And yet there's much more to like, Dan co-hosted multiple #charitable events with me over the years to support #community building.

His interests lie also in the sustainable food, cancer fighting, and anti-gun #movements and aiding those #organizations to grow in the #nonprofit sector, among other causes.

👨‍🍳 Today, he leads his own practice to teach others how to explore their own creativity in the kitchen - and more - through SternCrafted and I aim to engage him with my supper club later this year: https://sterncrafted.com/

Although I do not have a photo of him at the ready, the one below was taken many years ago at Chef Dan's restaurant, R2L, on the 37th floor of Two Liberty tower in Philadelphia.

===> Thanks, Dan, for your nonprofit community #service - and to bringing outstanding dining experiences to all of us.
