Got the #toolset for a fundraising video but not the right person?
4 Options to Ethically Garner an Impact Testimonial {Final post in series}
1. Invite clients or supporters of your organization to self-nominate and share a testimonial via your website, email, social media, or with a sign in your space. This can avoid the awkward power imbalance of frontline staff making a direct request.
2. Use staff-vetted volunteers as trustworthy spokespeople to limit risk that the #videoambassador is a thorn in the side of your colleagues.
3. Require anyone under 18 to have written parental or guardian approval and verbally explain to the parental figure how you intend to distribute the video. (To be sure, you should do this with everyone but it’s essential when working with youth.) Better yet, find someone who completed the service, school, program, etc. who is also over 18.
4. Periodically include in your participant surveys an option to share a testimonial, along with a checkbox for a client who is willing to be contacted.
Let's put the fun in #fundraising, too, with the videos. These stories can remind your #followers and #donors not just the How or the What of your work, but the all-important WHY, which is always compelling.
