I Mistakenly Read the Comments and Had Some Feels
“Foundations Employ A Myriad of Effective Approaches” is my fiery response to a subset of the spicy public responses to The Wall Street Journal essay* about #foundation sunsetting.
Although the essay brought some news about specific #charitable#gifts, the concept of limited time #foundations is not new: https://lnkd.in/e8SDnrNg
I was drawn to read the two dozen comments, which I found both inspirational and frustrating; and, to the saucy commenters I want to emphasize three things:
1. The creative options #funders engineer to disperse #assets are complex and varied and represent individuals of all backgrounds and diverse political thought.
2. #Endowments can be incredibly important to meeting the evolving and emerging needs of a #community by design especially when there is an allowance for an active set of #volunteers and/or staff to influence and direct annual or seasonal #grantmaking.
3. Permanent #endowments and time-set endowments both have a place and purpose to support change and improve lives; ultimately it is the people with the authority for directing the assets and the process of #giving that can be examined.
