Keep connected
Former interns, fellows, volunteers, and others who gave of their time are terrific individuals to keep connected to your cause.
These individuals have seen firsthand the positive impact that a program, service, or training has had on your clients, students, patients, or beneficiaries.
What if you’ve lost track of some of these folks?
Try this – enlist someone to take on the project, possibly one of the former volunteers, and provide an opportunity to gather these individuals in some way, virtually or in person, for a reunion.
You can celebrate their commitment and service, and tell them you’d like to stay in touch so they can see your continued impact.
Recently, I came across this photograph, taken at a legal services organization where I volunteered from the late 1990s to early 2000s. It shows one of our legal interns simulating an intake call. That organization managed to successfully reunite the dozens of interns who had provided the same service, which helped them facilitate a strong “alumni” network of allies and supporters.
