Leadership Transitions When Sudden Can Be Rough Going

Perry Suited Up

This maxim is true especially for a #nonprofit when a founder the largest #funder both exit an institution simultaneously.

Yet, if the #mission is strong and resonates with the audience for a set of programs and services while the commitment of volunteers and staff is present, new #leaders will often emerge.

*** Case example: Last night at a holiday gala which served as a celebration of #grantees, I had the occasion to speak with a talented individual who is resurrecting a recently sunsetted nonprofit, an #organization where we worked together.

++++ With this deputy who understood the content provided, the audience, and the network, the organization was able to thrive for years as he was integral to the team.

Although never seeking the spotlight, I knew his performance was always key to the success of the mission, but most people did not know.

===> I'm proud of him for his effort and tenacity - but also the programmatic knowledge he will be returning to the community of followers and supporters who are thirsty for what the organization does.

Sorry, I know I'm being vague and I look forward to time when they are ready for others to help him to amplify their charity's renewal and rebirth.
