Nonprofits have a major impact on the economy, but exactly how much?

In my city, approximately 29% of adult residents make their living from working for a nonprofit. Nationally, the average is about 9%.

The nonprofit industry is an approximately $2 trillion piece of the overall American economy.

12.3 million nonprofit employees work at one of the 1.298 million organizations in the USA.

Even during the pandemic, people are launching nonprofits, hybrid for-profit companies that have a charitable component, and Certified B Corporations.

I enjoy working with many of these leaders who are entrepreneurs in their own right, taking calculated risks, providing employment, and boosting our economy during these difficult times.
