Renewal is essential.
Even though I love my work, I am always looking for ways to feel a sense of renewal. Usually I reserve that day for a Saturday or Sunday. Today, I'm going for a long walk with a cousin I haven't seen since her February birthday -- and my book club will meet for the first time in 2020: outside, masked, and physically distant.
A friend of mine uses Monday for the purpose of renewal with his spouse, since one of them works weekend hours at a nursing home.
One of my cousins spends rejuvenation time outside of her new pond-side home in the country. She and her husband built a large garden and an outdoor ax-throwing game to enjoy and unwind. They’ve been removing vast amounts of scrub and weeds the previous owners left to grow rampant.
A grad school buddy travels to compete in open water swimming races; his forte is bay and lake swimming, and occasional ocean swims between 1 and 3 miles.
What do you do for renewal?
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi (UAE), a place of renewal and prayer.
