Some People Want to Be "In the Back of the Room"

Many are among us! I share this story as it is a reminder of what I encounter monthly or more with various #supporters of #nonprofit #organizations

In the case of Geoffrey Holt, his intention and preference according to his best friend, Edwin “Smokey” Smith, was to remain out of the "limelight" during his lifetime.

Smith took over the administration of a $4 million #trust Holt created 22 years ago to benefit Hinsdale, NH, Holt's small #community of 4,000 on the NH/MA border.

Holt lived simply, resided in a trailer of modest means, and lived on social security checks for the last 15 years of his life.

With his #charitable plans, Holt's vision was for a stronger, more resilient Hinsdale.

Funds will be managed and #invested by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to provide #grants to support "#projects, #programs and organizations that provide health, educational, recreational or cultural benefits" in town.

Thank you, Geoffrey, and Ed, I am sorry for the loss of your best friend.
