What can nonprofits do to participate in democracy building?

For the first time this year, I cast a ballot by dropping it off in advance at a voting station. It felt good and I enjoyed the prospect of avoiding a long line on Election Day.

I encourage everyone to vote and to participate in the democratic process. But what about nonprofits? How can they get involved?

The IRS is clear that nonprofits can encourage the communities they serve to participate in GOTV (Get Out the Vote) activities on a nonpartisan basis: https://lnkd.in/ejEu32d

But that's not all. Many folks already know that nonprofit organizations can promote and public communicate their favor for policies and legislation that can solve a problem or improve the lives of those they represent, even when issues can divide candidates for public office: https://lnkd.in/eTHsG3b
