Cryptocurrency - Donors (Especially Millennials) Are Still Giving it to Charity
A reminder - or news - that in 2023, the IRS posted new rules stating that gifts of #cryptocurrency would be treated as real #property and not as #cash: https://lnkd.in/e7CrJamU
You might say, "What the heck does that mean?" or, "Why should my #nonprofit care?"
A donor who makes a gift of $5,000 or more without a qualified, third-party appraisal for the crypto donation is out of compliance and it's not too late to get the forms completed if you are the donor or to inform your #donors should you represent an #organization receiving the #gift.
A reminder came in the form of an outstanding newsletter the other day from Julianne Buck, CAP®, the CEO of Community Foundation of Grundy County, my relatively new friend from the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.

Julianne's got a lot of good information for #professionaladvisors, nonprofit #leaders and #board members. Five stars.
